Center for Third Wave CBT
Behavior Therapy has evolved since the first generation.
In the First Wave – Behavioral Therapy, the focus was on classical and operant conditioning meaning that if we can influence and change behavior, we can reduce emotional/psychological distress.
In the Second Wave, distorted cognitions/thoughts were targeted as an important avenue to reduce psychological/emotional distress.
In the Third Wave, acceptance of internal experiences and understanding context for behavior are the prime avenues for improving quality of life.
