Welcome, Pippin!
Pippin is Dr. Bedotto’s one year old Golden Retriever. She is named after the Pippin apple, a favorite in Virginia and adored by my previous Golden, Biella. Pippin, or Pips, has been in training at home and at work since she was four months old and began working with patients in the Fall of 2023. She received her Canine Good Citizen certification in November of 2023 and she is now working on becoming a savvy urban dog and will go on to become a service dog. Pippin still has much to learn at the office and in life, but is shaping up to be an empathic canine therapeutic partner. She has been intuitive and sensitive to human emotional changes since a wee lass and is still learning how to control herself and her own impulses. She is always enthusiastic to go to the office and excels at greeting all who enter and walking patients to their sessions. Toy in mouth, wagging tail mixed with boundless energy equals happy humans. She also models how effective behaviorism can be! Fun fact – like Biella, Pippin’s best friend is a very large, well-trained Siamese cat named Pyewacket.
